I recommend any Lisper to get a copy of the book "The Art of the Metaobject Protocol" - IMHO this is an essential lecture for any programmer who wants to understand object oriented programming; not only in Lisp. But it's more like a tenth OOP book you read. Alan Kay called it the best book anyone's written in ten years. If you're not familiar with a metaobject protocol, the book The Art of the Metaobject Protocol explains everything in extensive detail. I read your post because I just finished "the art of the metaobject protocol" (which is available online through Google Books if you don't have library access). The Art of the Metaobject Protocol blows every other OOP book out of the water. Of these, the real mind-blower is MOP. That was just the mental and physical break I needed from the hacking, though of course I couldn't totally break away from things and ended up reading The Art of the Metaobject Protocol on the journey there and back. This book details the meta-object protocol, the framework on which the Common Lisp object system (CLOS) is based. Computer Networking continues with an early emphasis on application-layer paradigms and application programming interfaces (the top layer), encouraging a hands-on experience with protocols and networking concepts, before working down the protocol stack to more This book has become the dominant book for this course because of the authors’ reputations, the precision of explanation, the quality of the art program, and the value of their own supplements. It's probably one of the best CS books I've ever read. 1) Program data and program "abstract syntax tree" are uniform (S-expressions!) 2) defmacro. It's Scheme-based, but I guess that shouldn't be a problem. Asin 0262610744 The Art of the Metaobject Protocol - The MIT Press - ecs4.com 82873aae28ef3a624898dc9174506f43.
